The Marshfield Historical Society is located at the Old Schoolhouse Commons and meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM. We meet in The Hap Hayward History Center, which is located on the second floor of the library and features custom display cases, an enhanced meeting area and ample storage for our collection of local history artifacts.

Anyone interested in documenting and preserving the historical resources in Marshfield is encouraged to attend our meetings. We welcome donations of photos, documents and historical items.

Have an interest in genealogy? Janet has donated a year's subscription to www.genealogybank.com. The way to access it is to enter Janet's email address “JanetN@myfairpoint.net” and password “jaquith.” It has newspaper records from long ago as well as genealogical information.

Do you have a story to tell?
  • Would you like to share and help preserve our Marshfield area memories and experiences?
  • Do you want to make history and leave a memory for the next generation and beyond?

You can be part of Marshfield Story Project, a community-wide conversation about our past, our present, and our hopes and dreams for the future. Check out the Marshfield Story Project Home Interview Kit at Jaquith Public Library. Use the scanner to preserve your favorite historical photos, or borrow the digital video camera to record your own story or podcast.

Marshfield Story Project was created in partnership with Jaquith Public Library and Marshfield Historical Society with funding from a grant awarded by the Institute for Museums and Library Services. (Grant #LG-27-19-0240-19)

During the 2-year grant period we recorded video interviews of local residents and created an archive of Marshfield photos on DigitalVermont.org, the Vermont Historical Society website. We also created a Marshfield Story Project YouTube Channel for sharing our interviews.
