Bridge and Culvert Updates
July 28, 2026
FEMA Contract 1 (Sass & Onion River)
- Sass Avenue is nearing completion. Guardrail should be installed by end of this week. Approach will also be finished up to both sides of the bridge. By end of next week bridge deck membrane and pavement should be completed. Mid-August Route 2 will be restored and back to two lane traffic.
- Onion River. Once Sass is finished up, they will switch gears back to Onion River. The concrete curbs are currently curing up and gaining strength. End of August/first week of September it is expected that JP sicard will be completely off site.
FEMA Contract 2 (Cassady)
- Blow and Cote completed the closure pour this morning. This is the last big pour that ties in all beams with the abutments. The closure pour will cure up for the next week - in the meantime Blow & Cote will start removing the temporary staging pads, filling/building the approaches, etc. I'd suspect mid-September and the site will be completed.
FEMA Contract 3 (Holt, Laird, Maple Hill, Pigeon).
- Kings closed the road today (with marked detour). Locals will likely use Maple Hill as their detour depending on which direction they are going to/from. They started dis-assembling the bridge deck. It is expected that the bridge will be rolled out of place later this week and disassembled. Then the excavation will begin (early next week). Expect 4+ weeks of construction - once Kings is nearing completion (and the road is re-opened), they will likely start on Laird Pond next (to utilize the similar detour route).
FEMA Contract 4 (Thompson).
- MSI finshed a few weeks ago.
